    Startrek Day

Star Trek Day celebrates the premiere of Star Trek: The Original Series, but more broadly speaking, it celebrates everything in the Star Trek universe. The day has been embraced by the likes of CBS, Google, and even Oreo. September 8th has long been informally observed as Star Trek Day, but beginning in 2020, CBS—first through CBS All Access and then through Paramount+—began hosting Star Trek Day celebrations. These have featured live-streamed panels with conversations with cast members from different series, streams of Star Trek episodes, the raising of money for social justice issues, and sales on Star Trek merchandise. Star Trek was created by Gene Roddenberry. What became known as the Star Trek: The Original Series debuted on September 8, 1966, and ran for three seasons on NBC. (Although, Canadian viewers actually saw it on September 6th.) Set in the twenty-third century, it followed the Starship USS Enterprise, captained by James T. Kirk, who was played by William Shatner. Star Trek gained a cult following and Trekkies were born. Besides The Original Series, there have been five other television series: Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Enterprise, and Star Trek: Discovery. There has also been an animated series and numerous films. Toys, comics, novels, figurines, and other things related to the series were also created. On Star Trek Day, we celebrate the premiere of Star Trek: The Original Series and all things Star Trek!

  8. Fans anticipating a character cameo are out of luck, says the 'Star Trek' actor. Star Trek fans hoping to see William Shatner play Capt. James T. Kirk one more time a la Patrick Stewart reprising his character in Picard are in for a letdown. The actor explained Sunday why he would not do a series like Picard, currently streaming on CBS All Access. "I think Kirk’s story is pretty well played out at this point," Shatner said on Twitter to one inquiring fan. Last year, Shatner said he would be interested in playing Kirk one more time when Quentin Tarantino was in talks to do a Star Trek project (which ultimately fell through), but Shatner's response could have been tongue-in-cheek. The last time Shatner played Kirk on film was in 1994's Generations, in which the character was killed. Stewart also appeared in that film as Capt. Picard. When one Twitter user suggested perhaps a show could re-write his death, Shatner responded, "They could also do adventures in the ribbon...," which he included with the sleeping and yawn emojis to highlight his sarcasm. The ribbon was a plot device in Generations. And, no, Shatner has no interest in a Kirk cameo, either. "I don’t do cameos. It’s a throwaway part to sell DVDs," he said. The last time Shatner played Kirk was during the opening of the 85th Academy Awards in 2013.
  9. Really looking forward to this
  10.   What We Know, Predictions, And Theories Season 2 has been confirmed for Star Trek: Picard. Here's what we know, the biggest questions, our top theories, and predictions for the second season. Season 2 has been officially confirmed. Star Trek: Picard was renewed for a second season before the first season even premiered. During his promotional tour for Picard, Patrick Stewart visited The View and invited View co-host Whoopi Goldberg to be part of Season 2. Goldberg played Guinan on The Next Generation. Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) will be back, and another Star Trek: Voyager actor may make an appearance. We have some big questions left over from Picard Season 1 going into the new season - Will other TNG characters appear? Will the show link to Star Trek Discovery? Will Lore return? Where is Narek? What will happen to the XB's and the Artifact Borg cube? In the video above, Greg and Chastity provide their theories and predictions. Disclosure: ViacomCBS is GameSpot's parent company.
